How to Organise Your Conversations with Folders
Once you have imported conversations from ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, or Grok, the Folder Manager gives you full control over how they are organised. This guide covers everything from creating your first folder to bulk-moving hundreds of conversations at once.
Opening the Folder Manager
Click the Folder Manager icon in the sidebar to open the full-screen Folder Manager view. All your folders and their conversations are displayed here in a resizable grid layout.
Creating Folders
Click New Folderto create a folder. Give it a name that reflects the topic or project — for example “Work”, “Coding”, “Research”, or “Personal”. Folders appear in the grid immediately.
Moving Conversations into Folders
Three ways to move conversations into folders:
- Inbox drawer— Click the inbox icon on the left edge of the screen to slide open the inbox drawer. It shows all conversations that haven't been assigned to a folder yet. Drag any conversation from the drawer directly onto a folder to move it.
- Right-click context menu — Right-click any conversation to open the context menu. Select Move to Folder and choose the destination folder.
- Bulk select — Hover over a folder and click the select icon to enter bulk select mode. Check multiple conversations, then use the bulk action bar to move, remove, or delete them all at once.
Reordering Folders
Each folder card has a drag handle. Click and drag the handle to reorder your folders into any arrangement. Your order is saved automatically.
Renaming and Deleting Folders
Hover over any folder card to reveal the action icons:
- Click the rename icon to give the folder a new name
- Click the delete icon to delete the folder — conversations inside are not deleted, they return to the inbox
Searching Within the Folder Manager
The search bar at the top of the Folder Manager filters conversations by title across all folders simultaneously. Folders containing matching conversations expand automatically so you can see the results in context.
Reading a Conversation
Click any conversation inside the Folder Manager to open it in a full-screen reading view. Press X to return to the Folder Manager.
Grid Layout
Use the column toggle to switch between 1, 2, 3, or 4 columns in the grid. Your preference is remembered between sessions — so if you prefer a 2-column layout it will stay that way when you reopen the app.
Troubleshooting
I deleted a folder — where did my conversations go?
Conversations are never deleted when you delete a folder. They are returned to the inbox (unorganised conversations). Open the inbox drawer from the left edge of the Folder Manager to find them.
Drag and drop isn't working
Make sure you are dragging from the drag handle on the folder card, not the folder title or body. The inbox drawer must be open to drag conversations into folders from it.
Built for large archives
The Folder Manager is designed to handle large archives — hundreds or thousands of conversations across dozens of folders. Everything runs locally so there is no sync delay or cloud dependency.
